Internet Fiesta 2000

First meeting : Brussels, 06.07.1999

The first edition of Internet Fiesta, from March 19 to 21, 1999, met a great success :
- up to 5000 internet related events organized in more than 30 countries all round the world.
- with a special coverage on our web site (1.6 millions hits per day during the event and 1.2 millions hits during the information campaign)
- 130.000 internet users per day during the event.

The Internet Fiesta is a European initiative - based on a French idea - which consists in celebrating Internet, not only in Europe but also all around the world. As Internet has no frontiers, we recorded participants from all continents.

The aim of Internet Fiesta is to involve new countries in order to globalize and facilitate the use of Internet.

The principle remains the same : from March 17 to 19, 2000, the best ideas of Information Society will be on display : on the Internet of course, but also in villages, streets, shops or cafés... The services and solutions offered by Internet for citizens, companies, administrations will be under the spotlights...

The 2000 edition awareness campaign is starting now! A first meeting will be held on July 6, 1999, in Brussels.

The Festive Committee gathers representatives from different countries. Internet Fiesta is the result of common works between European non profit organizations supported by the European Commission and its Information Society Projects Office (ISPO).
